kinetic_phone.jpgStripped down cellphone powered by each day movement? Sounds good. Looks… ahhh…straight out of an overblown late 80s sci-fi novel mutilated by early 90s CGI. The description was even promising.

“It’s all made of aluminum and glass…Power comes from kinetic energy similar to that found in watches that use oscillating weight to power a mainspring.” If only it could capture the energy of the sheer unsightly its shell puts out, it’d never run out of juice. And a bonus shot for the blind:

I’m not sure how many of you own a laptop with a recordable Blu-ray drive, but if you’re in the market for one then I recommend you wait another few months. Today, Sharp announced a drive that can burn dual-layer discs at an amazing 6x thanks to a tiny new laser that measures in at just 0.13-inches. Sharp plans to mass produce in April. A desktop drive was also announced that measures in at 0.22-inches. No word on pricing, but the samples were going for about $461.

We credit the lasses at Shiny Shiny with the scoop, but it appears as if one Lily Allen, the only pop princess I actually kinda wanna make out with, has a MacBook Air, and we don’t. It’s ok, though, I’m man enough for a full-sized MacBook Pro, and the Air seems perfect for Lily. She […]

She sadly doesn’t state much about it other than it’s tiny, but here’s hoping she gives us a full review and unboxing.

More Comcast fallout for your Wednesday afternoon. The ISP told the FCC yesterday that, yes, it does slow down World wide web traffic for the greater good. The corp recently updated its TOS to reflect the fact that it shapes traffic. So that, in and of itself, isn’t new or exciting. The blowback that’s developing is, however.

A bill will be introduced to the Home this day that would disallow Comcast and other network providers from interfering with your Net connection. The idea here is that it’s in the public’s interest to grant unfettered access to the World wide web in order to foster the next round of Googles and Yahoos. If your bandwidth is constantly futzed around with, how can you reliably use services like VoIP?

Why doesn’t Comcast just offer a legitimate unlimited service? Charge the power users (people like us, I assume) a tiny more but give them all the bandwidth they have the ability to handle.
