Late%20X1%20GI.jpgWe brought you news that Sony Ericsson’s first Windows Mobile smartphone would ship mid 2008, however, the guys at Sony Ericsson Blog have spotted an official Sony Ericsson webpage showing the expected release date as 10/02/2009.

Considering Sony Ericsson Blog are as reliable as a really reliable source, and that they’ve pointed us in the direction of an official webpage backing their claim, this looks to be solid. If true, the wow factor of the Xperia X1 just might fade a little; who knows what we might see by 2009? We’ll bring you any updates as we receive them, but a delay would surely suck big time for those awaiting the Windows Mobile 6.1 running, dual touch and QWERTY sliding, sexy beast that is the Xperia X1. appletv%20copy2.jpgMacworld did some follow-up on a promise made by Apple in a press release from January’s keynote. In it, the company claimed:

iTunes Movie Rentals launches today and will offer over 1,000 titles by the end of February, including over 100 titles in stunning high definition video with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound which users can rent directly from their widescreen TV using Apple TV.

Now that February is over, a “Power Search” on iTunes reveals that only 399 rentals are available.

All in all, that’s 601 movies short of their 1,000 title promise. As for “100 titles in stunning HD,” Apple fell short here as well, but they at least came close offering 91 films that meet the standard (however, many of those films are not actually in 5.1 surround).

And when counting all the movies you can watch from iTunes—including both rentals and purchases—Macworld found that Apple is still short of any 1,000 movie goal, offering only 770 films total.

Hopefully, Apple will meet their 1,000 rental goal in March. Because while AppleTV’s recent makeover was impressive, we’d like to be able to, you know, watch some movies on it or something. [macworld]

It’s a sad day for the Internet, as this day marks the final day of Netscape Navigator, the first mass market graphical Webrowser and the precursor to our favorite, Firefox.

As of tomorrow, AOL, who owns Netscape, will cease support of the browser entirely tomorrow.

At one time, Netscape was the de facto Internet browser, but due to some nefariousness on the part of Microsoft, Internet Explorer took over. Now, the spiritual successor to Netscape, Firefox, is chipping away at IE’s market dominance.

Still, it’s sad to see an old friend leave forever. So take a moment today to thank Netscape, for without it, the Internet would likely be a much different place than it is this day.
