rock band drum cozies

Dear downstairs neighbor,

I know you loathe me for always having my obnoxious, beer-spilling, loser friends over to play Rock Band with late at night, and I’m sorry it’s so loud. I’ve tired padding the kick pedal and putting carpet under the drum kit, but you can still hear every whack of the sticks.

I could blame Ogre and his bulging biceps, but it’s just a loud game.

Fortunately I’ve run across these clever crocheted drum heads for the game that promise to make it a quieter experience for both of us. They’re only $40, and that’s a good price for your peace of mind, and mine.

I’ll try to get them by next weekend for the Van Halen guitar-off I’m planning, but I still don’t have a plan to muffle the Lee Roth-style kicks. I’ll come up with something.

Yours,

Matt

QuickPlay Media released the results of a national survey that measured interest in mobile Television and video content. The survey found that 47% of consumers don’t know whether or not their carrier offers such services. It seems as though service providers aren’t getting the word out about the wonders of mobile TV and video.

“Mobile operators have done an excellent job addressing the cost concerns of consumers with the launch of ‘all you can eat’ data plans. Now, with the growing availability of advanced mobile devices, higher speed networks and high-quality mobile Television and services, carriers have a further chance to drive service adoption by increasing marketing promotion of mobile media services,” said Wayne Purboo, president and CEO of QuickPlay Media.

Those of us who do use mobile TV and video, it looks as though we only do so in small chunks. The survey shows that 71% of users have a preference for mobile “snacking” as opposed to digesting an entire mobile meal in one sitting. The ability to halt a feed and pick it up at a later time is an important feature to video snackers. The cost of such services is also an important factor, with many people preferring ad-supported Television and video.

“What we see with this survey is consistent with the experiences of our customers —there is a real interest in watching mobile Television and video content as long as content is available in ‘bite size pieces,’” said Wayne Purboo, president and CEO of QuickPlay Media. “It is also evident that while the ‘all you can eat’ model is becoming more common, some consumers would prefer an ad-supported model that does not add to the bottom line of their monthly statement. As a result, we anticipate to see carriers offering a wider variety of billing models to meet market demands and drive service adoption.”

Full survey results can be downloaded at www.quickplay.com or by contacting Doug Fraim at fama PR at 617-758-4176 or via email at quickplay@famapr.com.

The suckas at Kohler wanted me to try out their new VibrAcoustic tub this day, but I already took a bath this morning. I sent that one bathtubbin’ fool in my place, and while I may go Clubber Lang on him for trying to impersonate the T, this tub looks pretty sweet.

The bath brings lights, music and vibrations together to create a relaxing atmosphere. Four presets of new age music and soft lighting are included, but if you can only relax with Public Enemy and flashing strobes like me, everything is adjustable and the tub streams songs from your Personal computer or Mac. One thing that threw off my man Mr. G was the vibration of the tub. Vibrating pulses pass through your body, but they sound much more intense than they feel. Fool thought he was getting a massage, but he was just shaken up a bit at ideal. Either way, it’s a nice way to chill out and get clean. But for $13,000, they could at least install a milk fountain!
