BGR has word that T-Mobile will be letting loose their 3G network Might 1. Yes, that’s this Thursday. It corroborates previous rumors by TMoNews that this would be happening soon. Maybe RIM should think about giving T-Mobile first dibs on that 3G BlackBerry AT&T doesn’t seem to want to release.
Update: Looks like TmoNews has more evidence and it appears T-Mobile will be rolling out 3G service here in NYC on Thursday. Now I really need to get a hold of a 3G device for T-Mo.
Sources for Boy Genius are confirming an earlier rumor stating that T-Mobile’s 3G network will get a Might rollout in NYC. The sources also update the rumor pointing to Might 1st as the actual drop date. [BGR]

Apparently the service packs for Microsoft’s Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems aren’t playing nicely with another one of Microsoft’s products; Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System.
The incompatibility is a big enough problem that the automatic updates for Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 have been shut down for a while.
“We are temporarily holding any additional automatic distribution of Windows Vista SP1,” Microsoft stated in response to an inquiry from CNET News.com. The company said it will continue to make Vista SP1 available for manual download. Microsoft had just started pushing out the Vista service pack last week via automatic updates.
“While we are recommending that customers running Microsoft Dynamics RMS should not install SP1, there are lots of other customers who can benefit from installing Windows Vista SP1 immediately, so we are maintaining availability via (Windows Update),” Microsoft stated. “We are delaying the release of Windows XP SP3 and holding any additional automatic distribution of Windows Vista SP1 as a precaution and to help ensure that our customers have a great experience with Windows.”
I got this brand new iPod Classic 160 GB just yesterday, and since 9:00 AM this morning it has done the exakt same thing. (This was filmed at 5:10 PM…) Not cool! (Bough it from Amazon.com and had it shipped via my aunt in florida to me in Sweden.)
The Movie Speed Racer, which is based on a cartoon series from the 1970’s, hits theaters on May 9. In tandem with the movie’s release, Glu Mobile launched a game based on the motion picture today. Speed Racer is the first title Glu has developed and published through its strategic partnership with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
“The team at Glu has done a remarkable job of delivering all the fast action of SPEED RACER onto the mobile phone,” stated Anthony Campagna, director of wireless sales development, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “This game provides hours of entertainment and will make a great companion piece for anyone passionate about SPEED RACER.”
The goal of the game is to become the ultimate Grand Prix champion by using all the capabilities of your vehicle Mach 6 and through “Car-Fu.” Through Car-Fu you become one with your automobile Mach 6 and drive with skills beyond the average racer. The game lets you drift, slide, jump and defensively drive while navigating extreme tracks against tuff competitors and obstacles.
Speed Racer has advanced graphics and 3D screens. The graphics are meant to fully immerse the player into the gaming experience.
“We’re really proud of the job our studio has done to develop a white-knuckle racing game on par with the level of quality that the Wachowski brothers anticipate,” stated Jill Braff, senior vice president, global publishing, Glu. “We’re excited to be able to put this experience in the hands of consumers in anticipation of the film’s debut.”
The Wachowski brothers wrote, directed and produced the movie.
The digital motion picture provider CinemaNow announced today that customers can use their cell phones to view movie trailers and order full-length titles to watch on their home television or personal through its mobile website. The new service grants customers to buy or rent a movie while they are out and about with friends or family.
“It definitely makes discovery a tiny more social when you can talk about the movie and do the buy while you’re there,” stated David Cook, CinemaNow’s chief operating officer.
CinemaNow will download movies to a user’s electronic device like a PC. Internet downloads of movies can take over an hour, so by ordering while on the go, hopefully the title will be ready to view when the customer gets home. Online movie buys cost around $14.99 and rentals cost about $1.99.
Full movies can’t be downloaded to handsets yet. But the company hopes to be able to download full length movies to cell phones by next year.
If you have a Web-capable phone and live in the United Says, go to http://mobile.cinemanow.com and checkout the service.
I looked into getting Leopard to run on mini-PCs and this gives me hope that it is actually possible. While it’s not simple, this hack lets you install Leopard onto the OQO mini-PC and even dual-boot into Windows when you need to run Quicken. The only thing they couldn’t get to work was WWAN, which […]

20% smaller than the previous generation, Samsung is claiming their new CLP-315K is actually the World’s smallest color laser printer. It’s got a resolution of 2,400 x 600 dpi and can spit out four letter-sized pages per minute in color and 17 in black, and apparently it has improved pic quality output. There’s also another small all-in-one edition, the CLX-3175FNK, which has a scanner built in and can scan to and print from USB memory sticks so it can operate PC-free if you need it to. There’s no word on release date or price yet, sorry. [Akihabaranews]
If there’s a more illustrious sport to come out of Germany this year than office chair racing, I’d like to see it. The first ever German Championships in Office Chair Racing took place on Saturday in Bad Koenig-Zell, and it consisted of 70 people riding their office chairs down a 560-foot course without breaking their chair or themselves. The real tricks looked to be surviving the initial ramp and the second ramp further down the course that were designed to throw people off. Those crazy Germans! [Reuters]

This day, Blockbuster announced that they will be expanding their gaming portfolio by adding more titles for all platforms as well as selling hardware and accessories throughout their locations.
