Jeez - there has been a pretty much constant flow of Sony Ericsson demo videos over the past few days. First the Paris, then the BeiBei, and now demos for the W760, W980, G700, and G900 have hit YouTube. These new ones aren’t quite as exciting as the others, as they’ve already been formally announced — but it’s still nice to see them in action.

Rather than bombarding you folks with two successive 3G iPhone rumor posts, I’ll do so in one so as not to piss off the iPhone haters.

First, Leander Kahney at Cult of Mac has a hot tip that the new iPhone will include the following:

3G
GPS
2 x memory (16GB and 32GB)
22 percent thinner
Superior battery life

We’ve already suspected all of the above to be true except the 22 percent thinner part.

Second, UBS analysts are feel it in their bones that O2 will offer the upcoming handset for a mere £100 while the rest of Europe will see it for €99 sometime in July.

bb9500.jpgThe tradition of “leaked” photos being blurry and godawful is an enduring and respected one, going back to the time of the bards. But this purported live shot of the touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder’s shell is truly among the most epic in its fuzzy fail. Going for its authenticity is that RIM supposedly asked Horizon to pull it, plus Boy Genius states they’ve got their own confirmation, in addition to the super obvious lack of Photoshopping/rendering. While it’s hard to tell dimensions (or anything but the faintest hint of four buttons along the bottom) it does look a smidge chunky, doesn’t it? [Horizon via Engadget via Boy Genius]

Looks like Microsoft is serious about this Windows 7 thing. Starting Monday, hardware makers will have to make their drivers compatible with Windows 7 as well as Vista to get that coveted “Certified for Windows Vista” badge on their gear. Seems kind of unnecessary right now, since 7 won’t be out for another couple years, but I guess they don’t want a repeat of the XP/Vista driver debacle.

I’m more surprised that they have a build of 7 that the hardware testers can use to certify their stuff. We all saw the Windows 7 video last week, but is the OS really complete enough at this point that display drivers can be written for it?

Luckily, that’s not really my problem.

It’s not a stand-alone solution to global warming, but if the technology goes into development we might well slow it down to a manageable pace.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to go out and get a Hummer right now, indeed gas is still over $4 a gallon in most places, but the idea that I can tell my hippy friends to shove it when I drive my BMW around means I like this a lot.

It seems like Nokia is pretty dedicated to their new female-focused Supernova line. The super shiny Nokia 7310 Supernova trickled out to parts of the Asian market over the weekend, and now details on two more Supernova handsets have leaked out.

The model numbers rumored to be tied to the handsets are bit dubious as Nokia has already used one of them in the past, but they’re tentatively known as the 7510 and 7610. Both will rock Symbian S40. In line with the 7310, these additions to the Supernova line seem to be going for fancy aesthetics, rather than mind blowing specs.

The 7510 (pictured above) will be a quad-band/GSM clam shell coming in at 124 grams, with a QVGA internal display, monochrome external display, 2 megapixel non-AF camera with 15 FPS video recording, FM Radio, and 27 megs of internal memory with MicroSD support– certainly not Nokia’s beefiest handset.

The 7610 slider packs a bit more power into its 99 gram body, but not by much. Pretty much the same as above, save an extra 37 megs of internal memory (64 mb total) and a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and 30 FPS video recording.

If it follows suit with the 7310, the new handsets will probably launch at a sub $300 price range, with the 7610’s specs making it marginally more pricey than the 7510. As the details were leaked on a dealer website, both devices will presumably launch fairly soon.

Microsoft’s Surface multi-touch table sure is cool, but who has $10,000 to spend on a gadget like that? I personally have maybe fifty bucks to my name right now, so I guess I’ll have to fulfill my multi-touch itch with a cardboard box and a webcam like this guy.

Seth Sandler, an undergraduate student at UC San Diego, built a portable multi-touch pad out of a cardboard box, a piece of glass, paper, and his Philips SPC900NC webcam. The camera picks up on the shadows created by your fingers when they’re put on the pad’s surface. A tracking software then transfers the motions onto a computer screen. Multi-touch goodness at an incredibly low cost—looks like I can afford to eat this month after all! [New Scientist]
