I tried to fight it. I really did. But everyone was doing it. I couldn’t resist any longer. I had to have a Beema of my own.

The idea behind Beema: You sign up, call an 800 number, talk a bit, and they make a video of an animated avatar synced up with your voice. The avatar selection is pretty large - about 400, currently. Clever? Yep. Easy to use? Yep. Creepy? Totally.

See for yourself:

It wasn’t long ago that my inbox was full of screen caps from an image editing program of a new iPod, it was a fat yet small iPod that we now know as the 3rd gen Nano. We posted the pics and were later told by Apple’s legal team to take them down.

A similar tipster tonight has very generously given us these photos of the iPhone 2, or iPhone 3G as some are calling it. Like the Fat Nano from last summer, the images come from Apple or AT&T promotional material that shows not just the new iPhone, but also gives away a couple secrets.

It’s thinner than the current model, for sure, with a more MacBook Air-like bezeling. It’s got stereo speakers on the back and what appears to be the same screen as the current generation. But the real news here isn’t the Exchange support, but the front facing camera for iChat AV.

Oh yes, it’s there. Not only is the new iPhone smaller and more capable, but it also comes in red as part of the Product (Red) campaign, like many iPods do.

Purchase a 3G, video-chatting iPhone and fight AIDS. We care about it. Hit the jump for the rest of the pics.

[UPDATE] After some painstaking image manipulation, the text of the iChat blurb reads as below:

Video just became a little more fun. Start a real tme video chat with other AT&T subscribers via 3G networking, or with iChat buddies via WiFi. The video calling revolution has begun.

So you can do video chat with your iChat buddies, but only via WiFi. Otherwise it’s phone to phone. Interesting.

Engadget state they’ve examined the leaked iPhone 2.0 firmware, and report 3G and GPS will be present. The HSDPA will be tri-band, meaning it will work pretty much anywhere. They also state components will include Sony antennas, 3G processors, transceivers and amplifiers, Arm 11 CPU and an UMTS on/off switch for power saving. Seems like there’s less and less to doubt about iPhone 2.0. [Engadget]

Whooooooa.

Images purported to be screen grabs of iPhone 2 materials have leaked.

It appears there will be at least two color variations. One with a black back, the other red as part of the Product (RED) campaign. It also appears to be a good amount (22%?) thinner, with what seems to be stereo speakers on the back.

Perhaps most excitingly, the pics give an outstanding view of a front facing camera and iChat video calling.

Real, or not? We’ll see come in Monday. See the entire gallery of leaked photos over at CrunchGear.

* Dimension: 116mm (D) x64mm (W) x14mm (H)

treo800w1

The Treo 800w’s launch date of June 22 is getting closer, and the phone has once again been spotted in the wild. The Windows Mobile smartphone featuring the new Treo form factor is making Palm’s business users excited.

Treo users are known as being loyal, but the fact that Palm hasn’t update the device’s look — short of killing the antenna — in quite a while has left them hungry, especially since the Centro line of little smartphones has been so successful.

The perfectly blurry spy shot shows the Sprint logo, which is in line with what we’ve heard about Sprint being the first to carry the handset. we havent’ gotten official word from our Palm rep yet of the date and badge, but it all seems likely.
