Seeing as the largest widely available MicroSDHC card is currently only a 8 GB and 16 GB flavors coming real soon, it might just take over two years for us to see 128GB MicroSDHC cards. Just think of all the crap you can load on your phone when you’ve 128GB of room!

BMW is jumping into the niche market of battery-powered cars with the Mini E. The vehicle is set to be unveiled next month at the LA Auto Show, but all the details have been just been released.

A 204 hp electric motor paired to a single speed tranny will grant the two-seater - batteries take the place of the rear bench - to zip up to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds. A Mini-supplied charging station grants owners to fully charge the 48-module lithium-ion battery pack in under 2.5 hours which reportable provides 150 miles on that charge.

These vehicles are going to be offered up for California, New York, and New Jersey residents through a one-year lease. Only 500 of these electric cars are going to be made so you rush out to your local Mini dealership and plop down your down payment ASAP.

Rob Morris added a Wiimote to his guitar and ran the accelerometer output through his synth gear. The result is quite cool, in a “I taped a Wiimote to my guitar” kind of way and but he sadly doesn’t include instructions for us who would like to be about to rock, Wario-style.

You may have noticed when we looked at the top 10 tech items being sold on Amazon the other day that there were no Vista-based laptops on there. That’s because the Vista laptops are more like top 25 material. After all, the high system requirements have prevented many people with desktops from making the switch; so it’s natural that notebooks would have an even lower pickup rate. Although it’s worth taking into account that laptops are more often upgraded “whole” (i.e. a new machine with Vista pre-installed) while desktops have a tiny more inertia in the household. There’s a lot more info out there to collate (pick-up rates at Ideal Buys and stuff are probably way higher) but Amazon is a valuable metric.

Looking at what’s available there… I don’t see how they have the ability to even run Vista on this thing.

While I’m not usually one to begin pissing matches with parties I was formerly unaware of, I’m proud to note that our inimitable Devin Coldewey has come to the attention of our former Colonial rulers and has made them quite angry. One Leon Bailey, a young man of some intelligence, I’m certain, commented on our five reasons you don’t want to break your new MacBook, noting our fanboyism and “how much more like Beelzebub Apple is than Microsoft has ever been.” Touche, young man. Your astute assessment of our internal lust for Apple’s products is accurate if not understated. I, for one, have copulated with the not very spacious U.S.B. port of the MacBook Air and that was only lunchtime.

What’s my concern, then? Not that young Leon finds it offensive that we warn you against breaking your MacBook, verily. While we consider the post a PSA at best, his intimation that our erotic love-making with the new MacBook’s ermine, glossy screen and the taste of its sweet monocoque was enough to drive us to write a trifle about what not to break on it is frankly insulting. We care about you, dear readers, and we know we all love the soft feel of aluminum between your thighs, the warmth of a battery on your abs, and the succinct tintinnabulation of the trash can as it deletes another “Just not right” Photobooth picture of you and your iPhone 3G. Unlike Portable Personal Machine and Tabulation Systems magazine - published by the strange little men who brought you Stuff and Maxim - we take all comers and are accepting of all predilections. I like to think we rise above the small minds that would place us in little boxes and, perhaps, we want to be in those boxes, especially if those boxes contain SuperDrives. But you, Mr. Bailey, have no right to bring our lumpen, swart lust out of the closet so ignominiously and without warning. Like the other newspapers and periodicals he and his British brothers produce - many unfit for human consumption, the Economist being a noted yet highly borderline exception - his efforts at unmasking us only show his own prejudice and I would only hope that, like a certain Prince Harry, he and his cohorts do not dress in naughty, historically inappropriate costumes and gaze turgidly at the wide expanses of Microsoft Vista. We don’t drag your wizened heart through the mud, Mr. Bailey, and we kindly encourage you to refrain from the same.

OLO is showing a mysterious device on its website that appears to be an iPhone-powered subnotebook. There are no details to speak of, but there are two options:

1. All the guts are in the iPhone. This is the approach of the Redfly, which lets the mobile device do the thinking and it just extends your toolset. This limits costs but also functionality.
2. The iPhone merely augments a full laptop setup, acting as a source for input and applications.

The second option seems more likely from the picture, as you can see they’ve put a full OS X desktop up there which couldn’t possibly be being served from the phone. That stated, the cost of the hardware and software required to run OS X (in addition licensing issues like those faced by Psystar at the moment) would make it much less of a compelling product, as it would likely cost as much as a regular laptop.

Research in Motion has a couple of more handsets that aren’t out just yet. CrackBerry got their hands on the upcoming Curve 2 - formally known as the Javelin. Think of the phone as a toned down Bold, notibly lacking 3G wireless and featuring a smaller bezel.
